I have always believed, that there is something mysterious in the world, that brings things together. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe in any religion. If I had to choose one, perhaps I would choose Buddhism. I suppose this explains my karma belief. Anyway, I had bought this book “A compass to fulfilment ‘’ from Kazuo Inamori, a great successful entrepreneur in Japan, for a long time and had ignored it somehow. One day, I was so frustrated after hearing a tragedy, that I didn’t really know how to deal with my feelings. The only thing surrounding in my head was, what is actually the meaning of our life after all. Then I saw this book and started reading it.
I thought it would be about business and how to get successful. Yes, it is about business, but it’s definitely more than business. Instead of telling you how to get successful, it asks you to ask ourselves, if you are really happy with yourself and satisfied with the things you are doing every day. It doesn’t matter what kind of job you have; it matters if you like it and would like to spend time for it. If the answer is yes, you could kind of skip to the next level. Try to do things that is not only good for yourself but also for others. This principle is the core of the book. We all know, it is important in the business world to share interests, but quite often, we forget to do so in our daily life. The author suggests a self-reflection every day and following improvements. In an interview, he said, it’s not about what kind of knowledge one has. He always asked himself, what is the right thing to do as a human? Not as a Japanese, but as a human living on the planet. This is the basic line for everything. Life is hard. We tend to complain when we encounter mystery, which only leads us to more misery. Always try to think positive and do good things, not only for yourself but also for others, this way you can even change your destiny.
Have I got the answer, that I have been looking for, from this book? The meaning of life is to do things good for others? For the planet? I don’t know. But one thing is certain: I am definitely less frustrated and I believe it is a good sign.
