Since more than 60 years, we – the Norddeutsche Konzertdirektion (NDKD) – work with the most prestigious and most innovative theatres and contemporary dance companies from all around the world and are the market leader in this field. There is probably no art form in which love, passion, pain, and despair are expressed more directly and better than through dance.

The dance, in its very own form and all characteristics, is Grevesmühl's specialty (as the agency is simply called by presenters). Promoting and supporting developments is a strong desire of the agency. Out of this wish, not only great guest performances by internationally well-known companies happened worldwide, also in-house productions by NDKD emerged, such as the dance show "Love Hurts ... Petrushka" in collaboration with The.Lab Art & Media.

We have been arranging co-productions for more than 15 years, for example in December 2019: A collaboration between the Malandain Ballet Biarritz, the Bonn Opera, the Beethoven Jubiläums Gesellschaft and the Chaillot Théâtre in Paris supported Thierry Malandain's choreography “La Pastorale” on the occasion of Beethoven's 250th birthday.

About the history of the agency

The Norddeutsche Konzertdirektion was founded in the summer of 1958 by Melsine Grevesmühl. In the beginning the agency was specialized on drama and music but in the 60s NDKD was the first agency to bring contemporary dance to Germany and other countries in Europe.

At the end of the 70s Melsine´s oldest son Wolfgang Grevesmühl joined NDKD. 1992, the Norddeutsche Konzertdirektion turned into the Norddeutsche Konzertdirektion Melsine Grevesmühl GmbH and Melsine and Wolfgang Grevesmühl became managing partners. This double management became a tradition when the founder Melsine Grevesmühl left the agency. Her granddaughter, Franziska Grevesmühl-v. Marcard joined in 2001 and expanded the agency over the borders of Europe.

NDKD symbolizes for more than 60 years great dance in Germany, Europe, and the entire world. To keep up our quality and standards, we always work on new projects but also care about tradition.
