About the Company

Since its founding in 1965, AUSTRALIAN DANCE THEATRE (ADT) has been creating exceptional contemporary dance and touring it to wide acclaim nationally and internationally.

Based in Adelaide, South Australia, ADT is the pre-eminent contemporary dance company and the longest running in the country and has been a pioneer in the field of contemporary dance for almost 60 years. ADT focuses on creating intellectually and artistically challenging choreographies that appeal to a wide audience.

With its repertoire extending beyond the stage to include film, interactive installations, gallery exhibitions, and works for public spaces, ADT has been the recipient of numerous awards.

Since January 2022, the company has been led by exceptional artist Daniel Riley.
