About the Company

SKÅNES DANSTEATER, based in Malmö, was founded in 1995 and is Sweden′s largest independent dance company. The contemporary repertoire is hand-picked under the inspirational leadership of Mira Helenius Martinsson and presents works by Swedish and international choreographers. In addition to the performances, the company offers an outreach and community program by presenting dance workshops, interesting lectures, inspiring seminars, talks, and tours.

The main focus is on accessibility: Dance should be made more accessible to everyone, even if this may be the first contact. As a result, SKÅNES DANSTEATER collaborates with professional and half-professional dancers with and without disabilities.

Since its inception, SKÅNES DANSTEATER has brought more than 100 new and innovative creations onto the stage, including the globally successful inclusion-duet Dare to Wreck.
