Adventskalender-Blog | Tür 17 – Nienke Wind

Today is the 17th of December and we had the chance to interview Ms. Nienke Wind for this wonderful Advent Calendar Blog. Nienke is Dutch and lives in the Netherlands. She is dancing with the famous Company Introdans from Arnhem (Netherlands). We like and appreciate her as a person very much because she is such a lovely person, but also her presence on stage is breathtaking – she is an amazing dancer and inspires everyone with her great charisma. For Nienke the words “inspiration”, “dedication” and “freedom” are very much related to dance and culture.

We asked Nienke the following questions:

NDKD: Why did you become a dancer?

Nienke Wind (NW): Dancing feels like a second nature to me. I like the hard work and the sense of freedom it gives me. The possibilities of movement are endless, there will always be something new to learn. That excites me.

NDKD: Who or what inspires you and why?

NW: Nature inspires me. I find it fascinating how it can change your mood and perception.

NDKD: How and where are you spending Christmas this year?

NW: I will be spending Christmas with my husband, my mother, brother and sister and their families. We will probably get together at my brother’s house here in The Netherlands and eat together. Usually, we all cook something but this year we want something very easy, such as ordering food.

NDKD: Why did you choose this photo, is there a story about it 😊?

NW: I chose this photo because this one image holds so many positive feelings I cherish for this piece. Four of my colleagues and I are in a group hug right before we were going to perform Kaash by Akram Khan. One dancer couldn’t perform so someone else was jumping in for him. We were sad our friend couldn’t perform but we were happy to share this fantastic piece with another friend.

NDKD: Thank you so much, dear Nienke! Have a wonderful Christmas Time! We are so happy to have you next year on tour here in Germany in March 2022.
